Valle delle Ferriere

The Valle delle Ferriere is a “Protected Nature Reserve” located in the heart of Amalfi.

It can be reached from Pontone, a hamlet of Scala, by walking down toward Amalfi.

The trail winds through an extraordinarily beautiful landscape along the entire Rio Canneto stream, featuring waterfalls, forests, and natural springs that provide the ideal habitat for a very rare pre-glacial plant: the “Woodwardia Radicans”.

Along the route, visitors can see the ancient ironworks that gave the valley its name, where iron for the Ancient Maritime Republic of Amalfi was once produced, as well as the historic paper mill buildings.
